Margaret Spalding is a senior designer and art director with over 15 years of agency and freelance experience supporting organizations with branding and VIS, art direction and campaign development, multidisciplinary design, and experiential communication systems that connect clearly and memorably with target audiences. Her clientele span sectors from small business to corporate, civic and nonprofit, education, municipal, arts, and cultural heritage.
Margaret maintains an independent studio art practice under the label M Studio — exploring constructed symbolism and the living world through mixed-media. M Studio periodically releases editioned collections from this ongoing practice.
Additionally, Margaret serves as Executive Director of the South River Watershed Alliance, an Atlanta-based grassroots riverkeeper.
Margaret is originally from Athens, Georgia. She studied Anthropology and African Studies at the College of Charleston (1999), and Studio Art with the University of Georgia in Cortona, Italy. She worked in both archeology and the decorative arts before earning a post-graduate degree in graphic design from The Creative Circus (2010).
