Beloved Benefit
Art Direction | Design
How do you make a gala inclusive? Ditch the tie and turn up the music. Instead of a typical black tie event catered to benefactors, the Beloved Benefit aimed to bring people together, in celebration and support of Atlanta’s historic Westside, with the power of music.
The inaugural Beloved Benefit took place in March 2019 at Mercedes Benz Stadium and was attended by as many donors as it was residents, entrepreneurs, civic and nonprofit leaders from Westside Atlanta. Over 2,000 people attended, raising more than $5 million for small nonprofits serving the Westside. No ties resulted in big benefits.
Brand Development Boards guided the exploration of different tones and visual direction, informing brand development. Client’s select seen above.
To pitch the concept and seal the deal, we developed a fully-branded virtual reality experience of the concert for the client team.
Our Stage, Our Time: Spotlight on the Westside
To familiarize greater Metro Atlanta with Westside history and culture, we pitched “Our Stage, Our Time” – a way to share Westside stories through NPR StoryCorps and podcasts. Interviews and oral history were documented via first-person accounts from seniors, students, activists, artists, historians, and legacy residents who participated in the Civil Rights movement.
A NPR StoryCorps series and podcast rolled out prior to the event.
